Google Nexus 7
$199.00
Released June, 2012
The Pros:Available for sale direct from Google (and outside the US too!). Quad-core CPU combined with Jellybean Android leaves almost no lag. Amazing price point. Great value.
The Cons:No SD card which can limit the media utility of the 8GB model. No rear camera. Certain apps (ie. Instagram) won't even install because of that requirement. Highly reflective display - a real glare monster.

Erik:
#google_nexus_7 I've been running a modded Kindle Fire with an unstable CyanogenMod 9 (Ice Cream Sandwich) for a few months. The Nexus 7 destroys my setup. It has all of the missing sensors and has a camera while also supporting the latest Android OS natively. Combined with the Quad-core CPU and an affordable price point. This is a great buy!!!!!
